You Loved Me At My Darkest by Evie Harper

Ebook Cover
5 shiny gold stars!

I have to open this review with how amazed I am with the works of all these first time authors that I have been reading lately. Evie rates up there with the seasoned pros! This book was believable, well written, excellently edited and a great storyline and the title could not be more perfect. I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

This story is about human trafficking and how it happens right under our noses without us even realizing it. The book starts out with Lilly and Sasha two sisters from Australia who have recently lost both their parents. They have a pretty large farm that they have inherited from their parents. They take a break to travel and see some places they have always wanted to see, first stop New York. On their first day there they go out to check it out and have a bite to eat and some drinks. When they leave they are kidnapped and taken by car then by plane to where they do not know. When they arrive at the destination they are torn apart and one is sent to one place and the other somewhere else. Lily was basically hand picked to become a collection piece by the man that runs the trafficking ring his name is Marcos. He sister Sasha was only taken because they were together so she ends up being a slave. The slaves do all the work, cleaning, preparing meals, gardening and waiting on the collection pieces until they are sold off. The collection pieces belong to Marco and are treated well given nice things to wear good food to eat, but this comes with a price. They are Marco’s collection and are put on display once a month at a party and men are there to bid on them. The highest bidder gets the collection piece for their sexual pleasers to do what they want as long as they do not damage the goods. Each collection piece has a private guard, Lilly’s guard is Jake. They become pretty close but there is just something secretive about Jake that has you guessing all the way through the book. He has some kind of mission to complete and he is not letting anything get in his way. He makes you believe that it is a position working right under Marco, but some of his actions make you stop and rethink that possibility. He is very mysterious but oh so sexy and caring of Lilly and Sasha.

I have a hard time with some reviews where there is so much I want to say but cant because I will give away the story and then you will not want to read the book lol! I hope that this was enough of a tease to make you want to read this one, I promise you will not be disappointed. Evie did such an amazing job that I wish I could give more than five stars, but they have not opened the rating for anything higher yet. So I will have to settle for 5 of the shiniest gold stars for this book! Thank you Evie, I am so looking forward to reading more from you in the future!

Pieces Of Autumn by Mara Black

4 Stars!

Title: Pieces Of Autumn
Author: Mara Black
Publish Date: July 30,2014

I am not usually a reader of “Dark” stories, but this one had me captivated! And was not as dark as what I was expecting. The story takes place in the future where money is useless, (something I would have never imagined).

The main character is a teenaged orphan named Autumn . Her parents were murdered and she is now living on the streets trying to survive, starving and running away from her parent’s killer, refusing to be found. In desperation she sold herself of her own free will to an organization called “Stocker”. She knew going with them meant selling herself, but hey she is not starving and can’t be found by the person that wants her dead. This organization educates and prepares hopeless young girls to be sold to the highest bidders as sex slaves. But Autumn is not sold, she is sent to Tate also known as “The Viper”, a man feared by those know in this organization.

At one time he was a trainer of the girls. His job was to torture and break them in order for them to learn how to be submissive to their prospective masters. But this is not who he is any longer, he has changed, now fighting his split personality one the real him Tate and the other “The Viper” his dark half the one that wants to own Autumn. When he receives Autumn as a gift he does not know how to act around her so he tries to keep his distance in hopes of scaring her away. This is not going to work with her… she is stubborn and does not back down. His treatment of her is drawing her closer to him. She is starting to have feelings for him and she knows she should not be feeling this way but Tate too is starting to show that he has feeling for her also.

I can’t say too much more without giving away the story and spoiling it for you. All I can say is this is a great book if you are OK with dark situations. The storyline is very well written the author did an awesome job for her first book! Kudos to you Mara! Looking forward to reading more of your books.

Nightlord Lover By Kthy Kulig

Nightlord Lover_HiRes

My Review:
I was given this book to read as part of a book tour. This is my first time reading anything written by Kathy Kulig.

I liked the book but I felt it needed more storyline and plot. It was a good book do not get me wrong, I would just have liked to have know more about this town, the guild and the characters. Nightlord Lover is more of an erotic paranormal story that involves a very steamy ménage between Larissa, Garrick, and Ramon. While it is apparent both men are in love with Larissa, she seems to be only in love with Garrick.

The story opens with Larissa a woman that just moved to New Hope PA and is preparing to open a new lingerie store just in time for the Christmas rush. Her landlord is Garrick a 200 year old vampire but she is unaware of this piece of information and has only spoken to him by telephone. The day before her grand opening, Garrick shows up just as she is trying on a sexy nighty that is from Paris and way out of her price range. She is embarrassed being caught in it and confused as to how he got in since the door was lock. He introduces himself to her and she is smitten right from the start and Garrick realizes he wants her for his own a crimson swan. But he will not take her he wants her to give herself willingly.

He then takes her on a tour of the town and tells her the areas to avoid. She questions him about these places since it is suppose to be a safe town, he just tells her a story about a ghost and does not let her in on the vampire secret yet. He has arrange for some friends to watch over her and he tells her that he has arranged for a college student named Jordan to help put with the store. Also that his friend Ramon will be the handyman for anything that needs to be fixed and he will be paying them for their work. Jordan is a human that is protected by the guild because her rich father pays for her protection making her off limits to all vampires. Ramon is a vampire that has the skills of a sorcerer and can cast spells.

Garrick and Ramon are not the only vampires that want Larissa, there are two other vampires that do not follow the rules out to take her as their own. Will Garrick get Larissa willingly before the others take her??? Will she become a swan, slave or a vampire herself??? This I will leave to you to find out for yourself.

I would love to read a follow up story on this book that tells more about the characters and lets you know how things played out. I could see that more could be told when I finished the book, not a cliff hanger but an opening to more to come.

Shadow Cursed By N.L. Hoffman Review

Shadow Cursed
By N.L. Hoffman
4.5 stars

This is the second book in the series and it does not disappoint! The story line flows with the characters from book one Blood Slave and adds a couple new ones. A hot ass sexy werewolf detective named Trent Vinolva and a smartass cocky and US Marshall named Jaecy Noble. They are teamed up together to solve a killing or should I say mutilation of an ex mobster. We find out that Blake and Jacey are actually half sisters, having the same father Lucifer. Now there is a character that will make you laugh out loud! I wonder if he just had a crazy sense of humor or does he one foot in the insane asylum!
When Jacey and Trent first meet at the crime scene of a murder they really do not like one another and at times it is comedy to read the things that happen between them. At this crime scene Jacey hears what she thinks is a dog in the back part of the house, before Trent can stop her she is attacked by the very large wolf, but manages to get a couple of shots off and kills the wolf before she blacks out. After this attack things start changing within her body. She soon is informed that she is a supernatural being called a shadow. She does not take all of this very seriously and again gives us some laughs at her ways of thinking. Soon she realizes that it is not a joke and she needs answers that no one seems to want to give her.
She ends up meeting her half sister Blake and Blake’s friends where she is told a little more about what she is now and then to find out that Lucifer The King of Hell is her father! Now with the help of all her new supernatural friends, father and the council she is hot on the trail to find the killer of Martinez the mobster that was mutilated.
This series is a great read that I would recommend to all paranormal readers. It has twists, turns, humor, love and loyalty. I am really glad that I chose to review this one for a blog tour, I am looking forward to book three…. Because the story is not finished but I will not say how I know this. Find out for yourself and make sure to read book one Blood Slave then this book Shadow Cursed you will not be disappointed!

The Officer Next Door By Ranae Rose

Title:The Officer Next Door
Author: Ranae Rose
Rating: 5 Stars!

How can anyone resist temptation when it’s right next door?

Riley County North Carolina has a lot to offer: coastal views as far as the eye can see, and men in uniform who are even more gorgeous. Home to the most notorious prison in the state, Alicia’s new hometown is crawling with men who carry their own handcuffs and know how to use them – like Officer Liam Alexander, her one and only neighbor. After catching him out of uniform, she can’t resist pausing to enjoy the show. When Liam’s Southern charm drives him across the property line, life gets hotter than the Carolina summer could possibly account for. Unfortunately, there’s a dark side to life in the coastal haven, even with an officer next door.

Coordinating special events at a historic – and supposedly haunted – plantation is enough to have Alicia questioning her senses and her sanity, but the spirits of the past take a backseat to a pair of escaped convicts who blaze a trail of mayhem across Riley County. Not even the most intense chemistry can survive the perils that make a sunny seaside town a dangerous place to be after dark … can it?

Book 1 in the Lock and Key Series.

Book 2, Officer out of Uniform, coming soon!

Review 5

This is my first book to read by Ranae and will not be my last I am looking forward to the rest of the series she has planned for this story line! Ranae knows how to tell a story and keep you wanting more. From other reviews I now have the need to look into her other series Inked In The Steel City. I would compare Ranae’s writing style to Patricia Cornwell and her Scarpetta Series ( I love that series). I really liked how she brought in multiple genres, paranormal, romance and mystery. Yes there are ghosts in this story along with a couple of psychotic murdering brothers and romance.

This story takes place in North Carolina with plenty of southern charm and a ghost of a past guest of the Wisteria Plantation and even a resident alligator! Alicia is the new wedding coordinator at the Wisteria. Alicia moved to North Carolina from Washington DC for a change of pace and scenery. And she gets more of a scenery change than she anticipated in the form of one hot ass cop that lives next door Liam Alexander. Liam works at the Riley County correctional facility there in Riley and is part of a special forces team. Immediately there is strong chemistry between Alicia and Liam, but both are shy when it comes to starting up a conversation. But thanks to Alicia’s friend and co worker the ice is broken and then finally get to know one another.
This story has a little bit of everything in it, humor, suspense, mystery and romance! I ended up reading this book in one day, I just could not bring myself to put it down for more than a few minutes at a time! Over all this was an excellent story that I would recommend to anyone that loves a good romantic scary and funny story all wrapped up in one book. Ranae did an awesome job with this new series and I am looking forward to book two Officer out of Uniform and here more of the other characters story.

My Review
Been a while since I last read a good ghost story and this was a great one! Any movie producers out there looking for their next movie? This is your story to make a great one. I found this story believable but then again I believe in ghosts. I believe that some spirits don’t leave right way due to unfinished business. Tessa and Gerald had some of their own that they needed closure on before they could move on.

I like how Philip wrote about the past and the present it helps to explain the history of the house and its ghostly occupants. This Bedlam house is full of history and antiques that are worth so much more than what Brad and Julie paid for the house. This house is the latest purchase for Brad and Julie they flip houses buy them cheap fix them up and sell them for a profit. But Julie has fallen in love with the charm in this mansion and does not want to sell this one, she want to keep it and turn into a bed and breakfast inn. As they are going through all of the contents left behind strange things start happening to them and anyone that spends time in the house. Their personalities are changing becoming more like the previous occupants of the house. When there is a fire in Brad and Julies home they live in they are forced to move into the Bedlam home while they are refurbishing it. This is when things start getting worse for them! Julie no longer wants to keep this house and she does not even what to be in it anymore.

To find out more and how this story ends you will have to take my word on it that this book is worth reading to find out. I never give away the ending on any book I read but I will tell you it is worth every penny paid to read!

Review 5
This was my fist book to have read by J.M. Zuniga and now I am on the hunt for more of her stories! Gwyneth reminded me of Adam Kunz’s One Tiny Secret with all the twist and turns guessing who is it? I know it is …. No it is … no ugg will I ever figure it out! This is a mystery suspense story (which was always my favorite genre until I found Paranormal. Now I find myself hooked on both! ) that keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat! I felt like I was eyes and ears for Gwyneth, telling her to look behind her, or listen do you hear that and mostly open your eyes girl do you knot see what is happening!? I was so into this book that I read it in one sitting! There was no way I was turning off my kindle till I was done. Thankfully it was not too long that it kept me up all night lol 2 am was not too bad.
The story line believable the characters where loveable what more could you want? I know a good mystery! And that is exactly what J.M. gives you. I found myself identifying the surroundings so much because it was about a real city and one that I am familiar with. I love how she referred to Fontana as Fontucky that make me laugh! That is exactly what the town is called by the locals. Makes you stop and think… wow could there really be a sicko like that here in my neck of the woods?? Could I know someone like that?? Maybe I better rely on my instincts a little more to be safe. That is how real this story felt.
I really liked the connection with the characters and the relationships they had. I loved the way Gwyneth and Detective Tate’s grew together, it gave the story more dimension and an opening to a whole new story! Gwyneth is one strong woman that is for sure, without that strength I do not know how she could have made it past her childhood… sad story there. But it helps to make this story even better.
Overall this is one of the best suspense thrillers I have ever read. From page one you will be on the edge of your seat and catching yourself holding your breath. I highly recommend this book to all mystery/suspense lovers this book will not disappoint you in any way.

I have read all of Kristie Cook’s work, she writes YA/NA and Paranormal Romance. Her first series The Soul Savers is what drew me into her books. Her writing style is unique and amazing she knows just how to keep you wanting more! Her characters are genuine, loveable and I can’t forget swoon worthy! She makes you laugh, cry, and feel everything they do. Her books are like watching a movie in your mind while you are reading.

The Space Within is the last of the trilogy in the Book of Phoenix series (another great series I might add!) In this book we get to know Asia and Brock more and their back ground story and learn more about the Sacred Seven Dyads. I loved reading Asia and Brocks story. It really helped me to understand the lack of connection they seemed to have had in book two The Space Beyond. In some ways I felt this part of book three could have been in book two with it ending still with the beginning of Bex and Hayden’s story then picking up back up here in The Space Within.( But that is my OCD showing I have issues with things going in order).

Overall, this is a fantastic book and displays, once again, just how talented a writer Cook is. I love how she brings characters to life. I felt that is story could keep going if she decided to add to the story. It has an ending that just leaves you wanting more without a cliff hanger.
I highly recommend this trilogy and when you are finished if you have not started the Souls Savers Series I say start with Genesis and then move onto Promise!

Review 4

This book reminded me of a Steven King book. The authors writing style is so much like Steven King. It was a great book and I really enjoyed it. There is some fantasy, fiction and the faith in God in the storyline. I was very impressed with the parts about Lucifer and the way that he was described so true to the teachings of the bible. Mainly the fight between good and evil and the temptations that we face daily in life.
The author describes the love that this family has for one another and it is truly hear felt all the way through the book. The main characters are Ben Carson and his son Taylor, they are trying to save Ben’s wife Anne that is pregnant and in a coma. With the help from the family dog and a psychic they fight to save Anne and to awaken her from her deep sleep.
The book is in my opinion is told by a third party kind of like a narrator telling the story. I do not read too many books that are written this way anymore and it was nice for a change. The plot to me is a little fantasy with a bit of truth.
